Features
density:The density of EPS is determined by the expansion multiple of polystyrene particles in the forming stage. The apparent density of EPS used in engineering is generally 15~30 kg/m3. Currently, the density of EPS used as lightweight filler in road engineering is 20 kg/m3. m3.
Self-reliance:EPS has strong self-support, which is very beneficial to the stability of high slopes.Since the lateral pressure of EPS after vertical compression is small, using EPS as subgrade filler in the bridge head section can greatly reduce the soil pressure on the back of the abutment, which is very beneficial to the stability of the abutment.
Water and temperature characteristics:The closed cavity structure of EPS determines that it has good thermal insulation and its thermal conductivity is extremely low.EPS is a thermoplastic resin and should be used below 70°C to avoid thermal deformation and loss of strength. At the same time, this feature can be used for processing with electric heating wire, and flame retardants can be added during production to form flame-retardant EPS.Flame-retardant EPS will extinguish itself within 3 seconds away from the fire source. The hollow structure of EPS makes the infiltration of water extremely slow.
Durability:EPS is chemically stable in water and soil and cannot be decomposed by microorganisms; under long-term ultraviolet radiation, the surface of EPS will change from white to yellow, and the material is brittle to some extent; EPS is stable in most solvents, but Soluble in gasoline, diesel, kerosene, toluene, acetone and other organic solvents.
